Theory of a Deadman drop hard-hitting new single “Barricade”

Canadian rock heavyweights Theory of a Deadman have made their return with a brand-new single titled “Barricade.” Released via OneRPM, the track marks a fresh chapter for the quartet, blending the gritty riffs and massive hooks they’ve built their career on with a notably sharp sense of urgency. Stream it here.

The song builds from a simmering, tense energy in the verses before hitting a huge, cathartic chorus. It’s exactly the kind of arena-ready punch we’ve come to expect from the guys, capturing the frustration of a one-sided relationship. Frontman Tyler Connolly explains the inspiration behind the name:

“‘Barricade’ is about the frustration of a one-sided relationship with someone that just won’t let you in, is non-responsive and makes you want to rip your hair out! I loved the idea of using the word barricade in a song since we stare at them at every show, it made so much sense!”

The track was produced by Connolly alongside Chris Baseford, with mixing handled by Baseford and Irene Genova at Lucky Dog Sound. You can check out the official visualizer for the track below.

Having racked up twelve Top 10 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart – including the massive “Rx (Medicate)” and “Bad Girlfriend” – the band clearly aren’t looking to slow down. While they’ve got some North American festival dates lined up for the summer, word is that a full tour announcement is coming in early May. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for some UK dates, especially after their cracking headline set in Glasgow a few years back.
