Rock outfit The Giving Moon have officially dropped their latest full-length effort, (POST)-Negative Colour, and it’s a proper journey through some seriously expansive soundscapes. Available now on all the usual streaming platforms, the album marks a bold evolution for the band, pushing well beyond the boundaries of standard rock into something far more cinematic and emotionally charged.
Founded back in 2012 by Sean Seales and Adam Suto, the band have been grafting for over a decade. They first caught people’s ears as teenagers with their 2013 EP The Wild, which was produced by the legendary guitarist Gary Hoey. Since then, they’ve shared stages with everyone from Eddie Money to Marcy Playground, and even landed their track “Scream in Joy” in the series finale of Shameless.
This new record, (POST)-Negative Colour, is built on a foundation of contrasts – think light versus shadow and clarity meeting distortion. It’s a layered, introspective collection of tracks that invites you to lose yourself in its atmosphere. The band have spent the last few years consistently on the road, including a massive 23-city “Eclipse Tour” and a standout set at the Backwoods Music Festival, proving they’re just as potent live as they are in the studio.
If you’ve been following the guys since Bloom dropped in 2020, you’ll know they don’t do things by halves. This third LP feels like the culmination of everything they’ve been building towards. We haven’t had the chance to catch them on our shores just yet, but with a sound this big, it’s hopefully only a matter of time before they head over for some UK dates.
