If you thought you were safe from the winter chill just because the clocks have changed, think again. Transatlantic alt-rockers The Fods have just released their latest single, “Cold”, and it’s designed to bring the frost right back into your bones.
The track is a proper collaborative effort, seeing the band, who split their time between Cheshire in the UK and New Jersey in the States, teaming up with British/French vocalist Sonia Hutchinson. Sonia is best known for her work with the gothic rock outfit Crowsilver, and she brings a haunting, powerful edge to this latest release. Following on from their previous track “Fuel”, “Cold” shifts the vibe into more atmospheric territory, perfectly capturing that sense of seasonal dread.
The guys have been keeping busy lately, and this collaboration with the Bristol-based singer feels like a natural fit for their evolving sound. It’s the kind of tune that sits comfortably in that alternative rock sweet spot – melodic but with enough of an edge to keep you looking over your shoulder.
If you’re looking to dive deeper into their back catalogue, the band have made it clear they’ve got plenty more where this came from. Wrap up warm and give this one a spin – it’s a belter, but it’ll definitely give you the chills.
