The Moshville Times - Voidchaser dive into deep space with new single “Rain / Solar Winds”

The Montreal and Stockholm-based progressive metal outfit Voidchaser have pulled back the curtain on another piece of their upcoming cosmic epic. Their latest track, “Rain / Solar Winds”, is the third single to be taken from their second full-length album, Interstellar I, which is set to land on 9th April.

Clocking in at over six minutes, the song is being hailed as one of the band’s most ambitious yet sensitive works. It’s built on a relatively simple foundation but layers on the technical wizardry, featuring everything from a cappella sections and shredding guitar solos to subtle nods that eagle-eyed gamers might pick up on. It follows in the wake of previous singles “Welcome to Terror Corp” and the Charlie Griffiths-assisted “Hyperconverter”, further fleshing out the band’s detailed musical universe.

The new album, Interstellar I, is a concept record through and through, exploring a deep space narrative filled with themes of identity, survival, and technological corruption. Fans of the dense, storytelling style of Dream Theater’s Systematic Chaos or Devin Townsend’s Ziltoid the Omniscient will find plenty to sink their teeth into here. The band have cited classic influences like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath as the foundation for their modern, layered sound.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the guys for a while now, you might remember when they dropped “Trust” last year featuring Jim Grey from Caligula’s Horse. They’ve clearly spent the time since then maturing their sound, and this new record looks to be their most fully realised work to date.
