Los Angeles garage-psych legends The Lords of Altamont are back to remind everyone exactly why they’ve held the crown for nearly thirty years. The band have just teamed up with It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine to drop their latest slice of fuzz-drenched fury, “Rusty Guns”. It’s the first taste of what’s to come from their upcoming eighth studio album, Forever Loaded, which is set to land on 10th April via Heavy Psych Sounds Records.
If you aren’t familiar with the Lords, they take their name and their vibe from the infamous 1969 Altamont Free Concert – the one that effectively ended the “peace and love” era with a cocktail of heavy drugs and motorcycle chains. While the hippies were mellowing out, the forefathers of this lot were busy banging out primitive riffs in beer-soaked Detroit dive bars and the dingy clubs of the Sunset Strip. That grit is still very much present in 2026.
Forever Loaded promises to be a ten-track masterclass in organ-driven chaos and riff-propelled power. It’s been forged in a worldwide recording process that the band says captures both the “vice-enhanced heights” of the studio and the “sweat-soaked concrete” of their live shows.
Frontman Jake Cavaliere – a veteran who has toured with the likes of The Cramps and The Who – continues to lead the charge. The new record features a ten-track sacrifice to the altar of rock ‘n’ roll, and if “Rusty Guns” is anything to go by, it’s going to be a belter. The guys are heading out on an extensive European tour this spring and summer to support the release, hitting plenty of festivals along the way.
The new album Forever Loaded will be available on LP, CD, and digital formats this April. In the meantime, get “Rusty Guns” cranked up and prepare for the fallout.
