The Moshville Times - FesterDecay dig up the past with ‘From Demo To Rot’ collection

Japanese goregrind specialists FesterDecay are digging up their early remains for a new collection titled From Demo To Rot. If you like your metal sounding like it was recorded in a morgue, this one is for you. The release bundles together the band’s self-titled debut demo, the Carcasses Revenge demo, and a live recording from their 2024 show at Namba BEARS in Osaka.

Hailing from Fukuoka, these guys have been making a name for themselves by taking the classic goregrind blueprint laid down by Carcass and turning it into something even more corrosive. It’s high-energy chaos that deals with some pretty grim subject matter – think real-life horrors and “the sound of a soul rotting away.” It’s not exactly easy listening for a Sunday morning, but for fans of Exhumed or Pharmacist, it’s absolute gold.

The collection is being handled by Relapse Records and is set for a physical release on 20th March 2026. You’ll be able to grab it on vinyl, CD, and even cassette if you want that properly old-school, filthy sound. This release serves as a bit of a bridge while the band works on their next full-length album, which promises to be even more “vile and violent” than 2023’s Reality Rotten to the Core.

While the band are mostly sticking to Japan for their live dates this spring and summer, we’re keeping our ears to the ground for any news of them heading over to Europe or the UK. Given the buzz they’ve been generating in the extreme metal underground, it’s hopefully only a matter of time before they bring the filth to our shores.
