The Godfather of Shock Rock is finally ready to tell all. Alice Cooper has announced the release of his definitive autobiography, Devil on my Shoulder, which is set to hit shelves on 8th October 2026 via Ebury Spotlight. It’s been a long time coming, and for a man who’s been at the top of the game for six decades, you can bet he’s got a few stories to tell that’ll curl your hair.
You can pre-order now. Mosh has already coughed up for a signed copy from Waterstones!
The book looks at the bizarre duality of his life – the murderous, stage-stalking villain we all know and love versus the sober, golf-loving family man behind the greasepaint. Alice himself admits that the two nearly killed each other during the 70s haze of booze and snakes. From car crashes and house fires to hanging out with everyone from John Lennon to Salvador Dalí, it’s all in there. We actually saw the band back in their element recently, and they’ve still got that classic bite; you can check out our review of The Revenge of Alice Cooper here.
To celebrate the launch, Alice is heading out on a proper 8-date UK speaking tour this October. Don’t expect the usual theatrics – this is an “evening with” style affair featuring a moderator and a proper Q&A session. It’s a rare chance to hear the truth behind the rumours directly from the man himself. We caught his last full production at the Hydro not too long ago, and while we’ll miss the guillotines, hearing him spin these yarns in person should be a right treat. You can read about that Glasgow show here for a taste of the energy he still brings.
