Virodh set to drop technical death metal assault ‘Harvest of Desolation’

India’s technical death metal scene is about to get a serious jolt as Virodh prepare to release their new album, Harvest of Desolation. Landing on 6th March 2026 via Erymanthian Records, this record promises to bring a proper old-school morbid stink to the technical side of the genre, refusing to smooth down the edges for anyone.

What started as a solo project by Sourav Koer in Assam has since evolved into a formidable four-piece powerhouse. The current lineup features Pranaw Chhetri behind the kit, Rudra Sharma handling the vocal duties, and Arun Natarajan on bass. That mix of backgrounds is clear in the way the record shifts gears – moving from the atmospheric tension of “Initiation” to the blistering speed of “Swept in Dismay” and the brain-bending technicality of “Dissolution of Karma”.

Lyrically, the band aren’t interested in playing nice, either. The album digs deep into societal unrest and bureaucratic rot, with tracks like “Great Depression” and “Kafkaesque” providing a blunt-force look at a world in dystrophy. It’s the kind of record that’s been built to be played at maximum volume, ending with the final, dark push of “Whispers in the Void”.
