The Moshville Times - Unsane release massive extended reissue of ‘Occupational Hazard’

Noise rock legends Unsane have officially dropped the expanded reissue of their 1998 classic, Occupational Hazard. Available now via the band’s own Lamb Unlimited imprint, this newly remastered version revives one of the most abrasive chapters in the group’s history—a record that famously combined the grit of NYC noise with the blunt force of industrial and metal.

The reissue isn’t just a simple polish-up. Longtime collaborator Andrew Schneider has remastered the entire album, and the release includes the previously vinyl-only track “No Soul” (originally out on Frank Kozik’s Man’s Ruin label). Even more exciting for the die-hards is the inclusion of the “AmRep Sessions”—six live-in-the-studio tracks recorded in Minneapolis just before the band headed to Brooklyn to track the final album with Billy Anderson. These recordings give a raw, unfiltered look at the band at the peak of their creative powers.

The original era of the album was famously cut short after frontman Chris Spencer was brutally attacked while on tour in Vienna, leaving him needing emergency surgery. Decades later, the band are finally getting to give the record the victory lap it deserves. They’ll be performing the album in its entirety for the first time ever at Roadburn Festival this April, but not before they hit the road for a full run of UK and Irish dates.
