The rock goliaths in Shinedown have officially confirmed they’re heading back to the UK this November for a proper run of arena shows. It’s all part of their massive “Dance Kid Dance Act II” world tour, which will see them hitting 11 countries across 53 dates. They aren’t coming alone either – they’re bringing the mighty Coheed and Cambria and the Welsh wonders Those Damn Crows along for the ride, making this one of the most essential bills of the year.
The tour is in support of their newly announced eighth studio album, aptly titled EI8HT, which is set to land on 29th May via Atlantic Records. To give us a taste of what’s coming, the band have just dropped a huge new single called “Safe and Sound”. It follows a massive year for the band that saw hits like “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Searchlight” dominating the airwaves. Frontman Brent Smith says they’ve pushed themselves harder than ever on this one, working closely with bassist and producer Eric Bass to create 18 tracks that balance arena-sized riffs with the kind of introspective lyrics we’ve come to love them for.
Now, on a personal note, I’ll definitely be down the front at the Glasgow show. I actually missed out on their last tour because I gave my ticket to my daughter (I know, I’m a saint), but there’s no way I’m sitting this one out. Tickets for the UK leg go on general sale at 10am on Friday 27th February, but if you pre-order the album before 2pm on Monday 23rd February, you can snag early access to the presale. Don’t sleep on it – these are going to shift fast.
