London heavy rock outfit DA announce self-titled debut album

London-based heavy rock crew DA are officially throwing their hats into the ring with the announcement of their self-titled debut album. DA is set to land on Friday 10th April, and if the early word is anything to go by, it’s going to be a proper slab of grit and melody. To keep us going until the spring, the band are dropping their new single “Snake” on Friday 30th January, accompanied by a video that promises to be just as hard-hitting as the track itself.

The band originally crystallised back in 2021 when former Desolation Angels guitarist Robin Brancher teamed up with vocalist Matt Oakman. They later rounded out the line-up with Neil Craddock on bass and Dan Smith on drums, forming the solid unit that spent the last couple of years carving out the ten tracks that make up the debut. By shortening the name from Desolation Angels to simply DA, the guys are looking to the future while keeping the classic heavy metal spirit alive.

Sound-wise, you can expect a mix of blistering guitars and atmospheric depth. The lads haven’t been shy about their influences either, citing the soaring power of Judas Priest, the dramatic weight of Led Zeppelin, and the moody heaviness of Black Sabbath as the blueprint. It’s honest, straight-ahead heavy music that focuses on big choruses and genuine passion rather than trying to follow the latest trends.

Lyrically, the record tackles themes of temptation and resilience, all wrapped up in a package that balances old-school grit with a modern edge. While the band haven’t confirmed a full UK run just yet, they’ve been busy on the live circuit recently, including a belter of a Halloween show at Leo’s Red Lion. Keep your eyes peeled for more news on the tour front once the album drops.
