Danish progressive metal outfit Only Human are making some serious waves in the scene, and they’ve just dropped their second single, “Breach”, ahead of their debut album release. If you’re into the genty, atmospheric sounds of TesseracT or the technical punch of Periphery, you’ll want to get this one in your ears immediately. The album can be pre-ordered/saved now.
The new track is a dark, atmospheric piece that dives headfirst into the band’s obsession with our tech-heavy, dystopian future. Vocalist Patrick Grønbæch Christensen, who also handled the production and mixing, describes the song as a “lament” for how we’ve let cynicism and technocracy take over our lives. It’s heavy, it’s thoughtful, and it sounds massive.
The debut album, titled Planned Obsolescence, is set to land on 27th March 2026 via Season of Mist. We’ve been keeping a close eye on these guys since they dropped “Automata” earlier this year. Our mates over at Death by Unicorn actually did a deep dive into that first single, noting how the band manages to blend melodic vocals with those complex, shifting rhythms we all love. You can check out our previous coverage of their early material here.
It’s not just in the studio where the band are busy; they’ve already got some cracking festival slots lined up for the summer, including Sweden Rock and Naestved Metalfest. It’s a hell of a start for a band that only really got their full lineup together in 2024.
