The Moshville Times - The Black Crowes announce new album ‘A Pound of Feathers’

Legendary rockers The Black Crowes have announced the release of their latest studio album, A Pound of Feathers. The new record is set to land on March 13th via Silver Arrow Records.

This release comes hot on the heels of their 2024 album Happiness Bastards, which snagged a “Best Rock Album” nomination at the Grammys. Produced by Jay Joyce, A Pound of Feathers was recorded in Nashville and reportedly came together in a blistering eight to ten days. It seems the Robinson brothers are keen to keep the momentum going, pushing their signature blend of blues, soul, and rock into some fresh territory.

Speaking about the rapid recording process, Chris Robinson said: “Bringing the high and inspiration from Happiness Bastards into this album, it was a natural progression. We experimented more, we wrote on instinct and how we were feeling in the moment. Rich brought a spontaneity to the record that I can’t describe, but it’s the best shit he’s ever done.”

Rich Robinson added that the album feels “transformative” for the band: “Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio and how we work together. Lighting a fire that hits harder, more jagged but is still true to our musical essence.”

To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the band have dropped two new singles. “Profane Prophecy” kicks things off with a bit of funk and cheek, while “Pharmacy Chronicles” offers a more cynical, slow-burning look at facing up to one’s vices. It sounds like the lads are in fine form, mixing that classic swagger with a bit of hard-earned wisdom.

With a career spanning four decades and a recent nod from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Black Crowes aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. A Pound of Feathers features 11 new tracks written solely by the brothers.
