Papa Roach share emotional new single “Wake Up Calling”

The Papa Roach lads are back with a brand new track, and it’s a bit of a departure from the heavy hitting riffs we’ve heard recently. “Wake Up Calling” dropped today (January 28th) via New Noize Records / ADA and it’s definitely showing off the band’s softer, more melodic side.

If you were a fan of “Scars” or their massive hit “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)”, this one is going to be right up your street. It’s a raw, honest look at emotional dependence and self-reckoning, produced by Colin Brittain (who’s worked with the likes of Linkin Park and A Day To Remember). The track actually got its first airing at a surprise gig at the Whiskey Jam in Nashville last week, leaving the industry punters in the crowd grinning.

Frontman Jacoby Shaddix opened up about the meaning behind the new tune:

“‘Wake Up Calling’ is a song about standing on the edge of disaster – being pulled back from the brink, and ultimately choosing love over self-destruction. It’s one of the most raw, emotional songs we’ve written.”

The band have been busy bees lately. Following a massive 2025 where they played to over a million fans on the “Rise of the Roach” tour, they also showed they’ve got hearts of gold. During their sold-out Wembley Arena show last year, they handed over a cheque for £20,000 to the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), raised from funds during their UK run. Top class behaviour.

While we’re gutted there are no UK dates in the immediate calendar (especially as I had to miss the last run as Nottingham was the closest they got to Glasgow on a date I could manage… and then couldn’t), the guys are jetting off for a massive run across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand before hitting the European festival circuit this summer. They’ll be smashing stages at the likes of Rock am Ring, Hellfest, and Copenhell throughout June.

With 2025 marking the 25th anniversary of their seminal album Infest, it feels like Papa Roach are nowhere near slowing down. Whether they’re churning out heavy bangers or emotional anthems like this one, they’ve still got it.

You can stream “Wake Up Calling” on all the usual platforms now.
