If you like your thrash blackened, fast, and angry enough to punch a hole in drywall, you’ll want to get your ears round this one. Atlanta’s own Malefic have just dropped their latest single, “Blood of the Throne”, and it’s a proper ripper.
The track is the opening number from their upcoming debut full-length album, Impermanence, which is set to land on 13th February 2026 via Terminus Hate City. You can check out the new track below.
Musically, the band aren’t messing about here. They’ve described it as a “ruthless opening statement,” and frankly, we agree. It’s driven by the kind of high-tempo aggression and precise riffing that reminds us why we fell in love with heavy metal in the first place. Think classic 80s melodic breaks colliding with the intensity of modern extreme metal.
Lyrically, it’s just as heavy. “Blood of the Throne” takes a swing at the powers that be – CEOs, politicians, and the systems of control that grind the rest of us down. It’s a track about the struggle against modern power structures, delivered with the kind of desperation that fits the current global climate perfectly.
Interestingly, the song has been kicking about in the band’s catalogue since their early days. It was originally written by former guitarist Cory, and while the band lineup (and the world) has changed since then, the anger remains just as relevant.
Although Impermanence is technically their debut album, Malefic have been haunting the scene since 2007. Drawing influence from heavyweights like Old Man’s Child, Carcass, and Testament, they’ve honed a sound that balances technical chops with raw energy.
Impermanence tracklist:
- Blood of the Throne
- In Darkest Dreams
- Of Gods and Man
- Idiocracy
- Deserter
