Illegal Mind release “Prison of My Mind” from upcoming album ‘Nuclear Cockroach’

One-man powerhouse Illegal Mind is back at it, dropping a brand-new single that’s bound to get the cogs turning. Titled “Prison of My Mind”, the track is a raw, introspective slice of punk rock that dives headfirst into the silent scraps we all have with our own thoughts.

The brain behind the project, Maxx Dee, has never been one to shy away from the gritty stuff. With this latest tune, he’s not interested in nostalgia; he’s looking for a confrontation. It’s that moment when the walls inside your head start talking back, and you realise you’re the one who built them. Musically, it’s stripped back and bruising – think the street-level grit of Rancid mixed with the pulse of Millencolin and a bit of early Blink-182 honesty for good measure.

Lyrically, this isn’t your standard breakup track or angry anthem. It’s a proper look in the mirror, tackling the cycles of self-sabotage and the fear that keeps us locked up upstairs. The artwork drives the point home, showing a mind turned into a literal cell. It’s heavy stuff, but there’s a sliver of light in there too, a reminder that you have to wake up before you can break out.

Taken from the upcoming album Nuclear Cockroach, “Prison of My Mind” feels like a turning point for the project. In a world that’s constantly shouting at us, this track hands the megaphone to that quiet voice we usually try to ignore. It’s a belter of a track that proves Maxx Dee has plenty more to say.
