Grey Daze, the Phoenix-based outfit best known as the original musical home of the late Chester Bennington, are back with a fresh slice of music. The band have unveiled their latest single, “Monster You Adore”, and dropped the news that they’ll be heading back over the pond for a string of UK dates in March 2026.
Following on from 2025’s “Shadows”, this new track sees the band continuing to evolve their sound with vocalist Cris Hodges at the helm. It’s a tricky thing, stepping into a legacy like this, but Hodges seems to be doing a cracking job of bridging the gap between the band’s history and their future. The new single tackles some heavy subject matter, with the band describing it as a song about “breaking up with depression”. It explores that struggle of knowing you need to change, but finding it hard to let go of the version of yourself that the depression has shaped. It’s deep stuff, but handled with the kind of raw energy you’d expect.
Drummer and founding member Sean Dowdell sounds properly revitalised by the current lineup. He reckons Hodges has brought a voice and energy that’s reignited their passion for making music. After the emotional weight of their previous work, it seems the band are finding a new rhythm, inspired by the fans who’ve stuck with them through it all.
For those who need a quick refresher, Grey Daze originally formed in 1993 but gained massive attention recently with the release of Amends in 2020. That record, which featured Bennington’s archival vocals alongside new instrumentals and guests from bands like Korn and Bush, hit the top spot on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. They followed it up with The Phoenix in 2022, proving there was still plenty of life in these songs. Since 2023, they’ve been back on stage as a five-piece, and by all accounts, they’re sounding massive.
