Finnish death-doom masters Swallow The Sun have announced the pre-order for the English language translation of their official biography. Simply titled Swallow The Sun, the book offers an unfiltered look into the band’s quarter-century career.
Originally written in Finnish by Matti Riekki, the Editor-in-Chief of Soundi magazine, the book has been translated by Salla Harjula. It draws from extensive interviews with the band members and key figures in their history. The narrative delves into the group’s internal conflicts, their struggles within the music industry, and the personal tragedies that have shaped their melancholic sound, including main songwriter Juha Raivio discussing the devastating loss of his spouse.
This new English edition is not just a direct translation; it has been updated to include new material covering the two years since the original book’s publication. Ultimately, the biography is described as a testament to the band’s resilience and the friendships that have sustained them through their darkest periods.
The book is available in two formats: a Classic edition (£30) and a limited Signature edition (£45), the latter signed by the band. Both are hardback, spanning over 300 pages with two photo sections. Fans who pre-order early will also have the opportunity to have their name printed in the book.
