Auckland-based multi-instrumentalist Logan Wedgwood has returned with his instrumental outlet Sounds Escape to unleash a stunning new album, Electric Love. Released on 1st December 2025, the record serves as a transportive journey through the powerful dynamics of sound, as demonstrated on the lead track “Exploding Stars”.
Sounds Escape is the brainchild of Wedgwood, a father, husband, and business owner who has turned a lifelong passion into an innovative musical project. A former touring drummer turned songwriter, he was active in the local music scene until his band broke up in 2009, leaving him feeling as though the rug had been pulled out from under him. With a young family to raise, drumming was sidelined until the pandemic of 2020 pulled him back in.
Struggling with the isolation and uncertainty of that time, Wedgwood needed a creative outlet. Picking up the guitar, he found salvation in the daily ritual of creating music and bringing the sounds in his head out into the world. Rough riffs became loops and layers, eventually evolving into full compositions. Combining storytelling with musicianship, Sounds Escape crafts immersive instrumental narratives that evoke powerful emotions, sometimes led by a single guitar line and other times by forty instruments stacked together.
Described as compositions rather than songs, and adventures rather than arrangements, the works on Electric Love invite listeners to find their own meaning. Whether it is a late-night headphone listen or a rainy Sunday soundtrack, the album offers tension and release in equal measure. “Exploding Stars” is the perfect starting point, capturing the ambitiously rewarding style of the project within its runtime. It offers just a small taste of what to expect from the album overall—a rollercoaster of rhythm, sound, and emotion.
