It’s always a cracking day when the folks at Comatose Music drop a new release date on us. This time around, they’re bringing us the debut offering from Chilean outfit Sermon To The Lambs. While the band itself only formed back in 2023 in Concepción, the guys behind the instruments aren’t exactly new to the game. The lineup boasts veterans with history in the likes of In Asymmetry, Esophagus, Disownment, and The Macabre. So, it’s safe to say they know their way around a blast beat and aren’t just messing about.
The self-titled album, Sermon To The Lambs, is set to hit the shelves on March 6th. Judging by the preview, it’s going to be a proper auditory battering. They’re channeling that classic, chaotic violence that South American extreme metal is renowned for, blending genre traditions with pure, unadulterated aggression. We’re told to expect a mix of “unfathomable darkness” and devastating intensity on tracks like “Crowned King Of The Worms” and the charmingly titled “Spitting In The Church Of The Nazarene”.
The record was mixed and mastered by the band’s own Victor Araneda, who has previously polished up releases for First Degree Murder, so expect it to sound crisp yet absolutely crushing. To top it off, the cover art comes from the legendary Par Olofsson, whose portfolio includes heavyweights like Unleashed and Thy Art Is Murder. The album wraps up with two bonus tracks featuring guest vocals from Jeff Page of Manifestations. If you like your death metal brutal and devoid of mercy, this sounds like a bit of a belter.
