Philadelphia thrashers Necrosexual announce new album ‘Road To Rubble’

If you like your metal served with a side of sleaze and a heavy dose of horror, you might want to turn your attention to the streets of Philadelphia. That is where Necrosexual, the unholy amalgamation of thrash metal riffs, heavy metal melody, and punk attitude, have been lurking since 2011. The band has just announced the details of their second full-length studio album, Road To Rubble, which is set to drop on 27th February via British label Black Metal Archives.

Fronted by the enigmatic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist known simply as The Necrosexual—a figure described as part Cronos, part King Diamond, and part devilish deviant—the band first made waves with their 2018 debut GRIM-1. Following a trilogy of EPs and a vicious live album, they are finally ready to unleash the follow-up. Road To Rubble promises an explosion of riffs, macabre tales, and defiance.

The album is being billed as a carnival of horrors, kicking off with the primal, Celtic Frost-inspired guitars of “High Times In Hell”. Other standout tracks include the rollicking “Lubricator” and the groove-heavy “Damned Romance”. It isn’t all high-octane speed, however; the band also explores atmospheric territory with the interlude “Twilight Drifter Intermezzo”.

To ensure the sonic quality matches the songwriting, the album was mixed by Steve Roche (Blemish, Serpent Throne) and mastered by Arthur Rizk, known for his work with Power Trip and Blood Incantation. The package is rounded out by gloriously over-the-top, Mad Max-style artwork by Scott R. Johnston.

In addition to the music, fans can dive deeper into the band’s lore through their comic book series. The second issue, Necrosexual Encounters, is available now via their Bandcamp page.
