Ka’aper unleash new single “Amenhotep” ahead of second album

There is no rest for the wicked, or indeed for the industrious heavy metal musicians of Cyprus. It feels like only yesterday that we were talking about Ka’aper dropping their debut full-length record, While Flows The Nile, back in the spring. Well, the lads clearly haven’t spent the last few months sitting about admiring their handiwork, because they are already back with a brand new track.

The band have just released “Amenhotep”, the first single to be taken from their upcoming sophomore album, When Gods Walked the Earth. It is an impressive turnaround for the four-piece – Evgeny Pcheliakov (vocals), Timur Glushan (guitar), Igor Kurzin (bass), and Alexey Boychuk (drums) – who only formed in April 2024. To have one album out and another on the way within such a short window shows a work ethic that would put most bands to shame.

Musically, they are sticking to their guns with that signature blend of crushing death metal riffs and atmospheric melody, all wrapped up in themes of ancient Egyptian mythology. The new single was recorded at Eleven63 Studios, with Max Baryshnikov once again handling the mix and master.

If you enjoyed the debut earlier this year, “Amenhotep” looks set to be a cracking follow-up. It’s always good to see a band striking while the iron is hot rather than vanishing for three years between releases. You can check out the new single on the usual streaming platforms now.
