Savona-based metal crew Straight to Pain have unleashed their latest single, “Submerged”, giving us a tasty little preview of what is to come from their camp in the near future. The new track was recorded, mixed, and mastered over at Blackwave Studios under the watchful eye of Fabio Palombi.
These lads have been at it for a fair while now, having originally formed way back in 2009. While they started out with their roots firmly planted in the hardcore and metalcore scenes—something that was very much evident on their 2013 debut album Horizon Calls—they have not been afraid to switch things up as time has gone on. Over the years, they have gradually drifted into much heavier territory, refining their sound rather than sticking to the same old formula.
By the time 2019’s Cycles and the subsequent EP Closing Cycles landed, the band had carved out a distinct new identity. They are now churning out a heavy blend of melodic death metal with a bit of djent thrown in for good measure. It is a natural evolution that keeps things fresh and heavy.
Known for bringing a serious amount of energy to the stage across their home country of Italy, the band are currently pressing forward with a string of new singles rather than sitting idle. “Submerged” serves as a teaser for their next full-length album, which is currently in the works. If this track is anything to go by, the upcoming record should be a bit of a belter.
You can check out the new track on the usual streaming platforms now.
