Black Lung release video for “Traveler” and announce new album ‘Forever Beyond’

Baltimore-based heavy psych rock outfit Black Lung have announced the details of their upcoming fifth studio album. Titled Forever Beyond, the record is scheduled to hit the shelves on 6th March 2026 through Magnetic Eye Records.

To coincide with the announcement, the band has shared the opening track, “Traveler”, as the lead single alongside a new music video. The track serves as the introduction to the band’s latest musical chapter, which aims to blend their established stoner doom and psychedelic rock roots with new, dynamic textures.

Discussing the themes behind the new single, vocalist and guitarist David Cavalier explains that the song explores the complex relationship with one’s own mental struggles. He comments:

“This song is about relying on one’s anxiety and depression – almost like a super power. You think, it’s the things that are going to keep you safe and sharp. In reality, it’s the complete opposite. The song also touches on the idea of living in a blameless world. Radical acceptance of people and who they are. Musically, this is one of my favorite tracks. We made it as dynamic as possible and each section feels like its own moment.”

Forever Beyond follows the band’s 2022 release Dark Waves, continuing the sonic exploration initiated on that record. While the previous album saw the band venturing into new galaxies of sound, the upcoming full-length distills these experiments into a “musical rocket fuel”. The album is described as a reaction to historic political upheaval, tackling heavy lyrical themes such as the lure of fascism and blind nationalism, yet delivering them with a sense of joyful defiance rather than hopeless anger.
