Emerging from the frozen landscapes of northern Sweden, the new extreme metal force Scythikon have launched their second sonic assault. Titled “Creed Of The Sniper”, the track follows closely on the heels of their ferocious debut single, “Survivalist”, which was released only weeks ago. The project is the latest creation of Pär Hulkoff, best known for his work with Raubtier and HULKOFF.
Described as a “war hymn for the unseen”, the new single is built upon a foundation of militant rhythms and razor-sharp guitar work. The song pays tribute to the concepts of discipline, focus, and sacrifice, painting a grim picture of those who march alone through the darkness. It captures a suffocating atmosphere of imminent violence, fitting for a band named after an ancient Scythian death poison.
Discussing the themes behind the track, Hulkoff comments:
“‘Creed Of The Sniper’ honours discipline, focus and sacrifice. A war hymn for the soldiers. A salute to the unseen, with a pretty dark and horrifying vibe.”
Scythikon was forged during the isolation of the recent lockdown years. Hulkoff sought to create a vessel for material that was too raw and venomous for his existing projects. To realise this vision, he recruited German drummer Wanja “Nechtan” Gröger and bassist J-son. Together, the trio aims to craft a soundtrack for global decay, blending war-torn imagery with an apocalyptic atmosphere.
To achieve their specific sound, the track was recorded through a vintage 1993 Marshall stack, avoiding over-polished modern production techniques in favour of grit and aggression. The mixing duties were handled by Fredrik Folkare of death metal legends Unleashed, ensuring the final output retains a lethal edge. With two singles now available, Scythikon are quickly establishing themselves as a formidable new presence in the world of extreme metal.
