Hexbloom release second single “Celestial Doom”

Finnish modern metal outfit Hexbloom have returned to the fray with their second ever release, a new single titled “Celestial Doom”. This follows the band’s debut track, “Haze”, which landed earlier this year and introduced listeners to their blend of heavy instrumentation and melodic accessibility.

Originating from Turku, Hexbloom describe their sonic foundation as being rooted in modern metal, often weaving in pop-sensibilities to create memorable hooks. However, this new release sees them treading a different path. “Celestial Doom” introduces a noticeably darker atmosphere and a more aggressive edge than their previous outing. It also marks a significant milestone for the group as it features the first recorded appearance of drummer Topias Muhonen, who joins the existing lineup of vocalist Eepi Karppinen and guitarists Juuso Javanainen and Tero Loponen.

The thematic content of the single shifts away from personal struggles to a grander, sci-fi narrative. Vocalist Eepi Karppinen sheds light on the dystopian story behind the lyrics:

“The song explores a scenario in which Earth has become uninhabitable and humanity is forced to look to the stars in search of a new home. It offers a glimpse into a time when the price of survival is a journey beyond our own world. The text reflects on both the hope and despair that a new beginning on an alien planet might bring – and poses the question; what are we willing to leave behind in order to preserve the existence of humankind?”

The track was produced, mixed, and arranged by the band’s own Juuso Javanainen at JJ-Productions, ensuring the group maintained creative control over their evolving sound. Mastering was completed by Aleksi Rintala at Endeavor Soundworks, with cover art provided by Michaela Tuomenoksa.
