Shores of Null release “An Easy Way” as prelude to upcoming split ‘Latitudes of Sorrow’

Italian doom metal outfit Shores of Null have unveiled their new single, “An Easy Way”. The track is described as devastatingly poignant and serves as the opening for their upcoming split album, Latitudes of Sorrow, which they are sharing with Finnish funeral doom masters Convocation. The split is scheduled for release on November 21st via Everlasting Spew Records.

“An Easy Way” was reportedly chosen as the single due to its immediacy and emotional impact, blending haunting darkness with melodic catchiness. The lyrical content confronts themes of depression, inner struggle, and the fragile boundary between perseverance and surrender. The band describes it as “a reflection on human frailty, wrapped in a soundscape that’s both oppressive and unforgettable.”

They further commented: “It’s the most straightforward track on the split. Catchy, yes, but it leaves very little room for hope.”

The Latitudes of Sorrow split is a collaboration born from a shared artistic vision. When Everlasting Spew Records approached Shores of Null while they were writing their next full-length album, the band took the opportunity to finish and record three exclusive tracks that might otherwise have remained unreleased. The result is said to be a darker, more hopeless sonic offering, designed to complement Convocation’s own funeral doom intensity.

“Two sides of the same coin. Opposite latitudes, but a shared desire to explore sorrow in all its forms,” the band explains. The album’s artwork, created by LL of Convocation, depicts a spectral figure and an empty chair, described as a haunting symbol of “presence in absence.” Musically and lyrically, Latitudes of Sorrow is a journey through grief, solitude, and the inescapable weight of mortality.

The release is recommended for fans of Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Evoken, and Esoteric. “An Easy Way” is streaming now, and you can listen to it via the YouTube link below.

This split follows the band’s 2023 full-length album, The Loss Of Beauty, which received significant praise, including being named one of Metal Hammer’s top albums of 2023. The band supported that release with a major EU/UK tour alongside Swallow The Sun, Draconian, and Avatarium, as well as appearing at festivals like Hellfest and 70000 Tons Of Metal. Earlier in 2025, the band released Beauty over Europe, a live album capturing their performances across the continent.

Latitudes of Sorrow will be released digitally, on CD, and on cassette on November 21st. A vinyl edition is planned for Spring 2026. Pre-orders are available now [physical / digital].
