Independent active rock band Set It Off have unleashed a furious new track, “Pathological”, taken from their upcoming self-titled album which is set for release on November 7th, 2025.
Following their recent US radio successes with “Punching Bag”, “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing [REBORN]” and “Rotten”, the new single is a seething, riff-laden retort aimed at those who fabricate their lives. Vocalist Cody Carson explains the inspiration behind the track:
It’s unfortunate – the number of people I’ve come across in my lifetime that feel the need to make stuff up all the time because they feel like their current life isn’t exciting enough. At first they seem like little white lies that just embellish somebody’s stories, but as they get away with it, they realise they can lie all the time. Then, it gets out of hand – because it always does – and it ruins their life. This song is my response to the handfuls of people I’ve met who took advantage of my kindness in order to get ahead. I don’t have to name names, because everybody else already knows…
“Pathological” serves as the opening track for the band’s forthcoming self-titled record, their first full-length release since 2022’s Elsewhere and their debut in a new independent era. By taking their future into their own hands, the trio of Cody Carson, drummer Maxx Danziger, and guitarist Zach DeWall have reached new heights, and the new album promises to be their heaviest and most rage-filled work to date.
“Every previous album was so necessary for us to be able to find this sound,” says Carson of the record. “This is not the final destination, but it’s the road we should have been running down the whole time.”
