Thames & Hudson has today released Iron Maiden: Infinite Dreams – The Official Visual History, a new hardback book celebrating the first 50 years of the legendary heavy metal band. The book chronicles the evolution of Iron Maiden with unparalleled input from the band members and their management.
The book is only £35-ish on Amazon right now, and we get a percentage if you grab it from there!
In conjunction with the launch, lead singer Bruce Dickinson will be exclusively signing copies at Waterstones Piccadilly in London on the evening of October 14th. Unsurprisingly, tickets for the special event sold out within hours of being announced.
Iron Maiden: Infinite Dreams is a spectacular visual journey, featuring never-before-seen items and photographs curated with enormous attention to detail over several years. Organised chronologically, the book tells the story of the band from their first pub gigs in 1975 through to their groundbreaking albums, including their self-titled debut, 1982’s The Number of the Beast, and the stadium-conquering Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. The history continues right up to 2021’s acclaimed double-album Senjutsu and looks ahead to the forthcoming Run For Your Lives World Tour.
The book also traces the evolution of their iconic mascot, Eddie, featuring exclusive comments from his creator Derek Riggs. It documents the band’s complex stage productions and extensive tours, such as the 2008 Somewhere Back in Time World Tour, which famously saw Dickinson pilot the band’s own Ed Force One 757.
Founder Steve Harris commented on the project: “I’ve been pleasantly surprised at some of the stuff that I’ve managed to unearth for this book. I knew I had kept a lot of things from the early days but they have lasted really well and the photography has brought them back to life. I hope the fans are going to love looking at all the stuff presented like this! It’s the right time to bring it all together for part of our 50th celebrations.”
The pages are filled with iconic album and single artwork, photographs of the band’s instruments, stage props, and hand-written lyrics from both the official archive and the band’s personal collections. With a foreword by Steve Harris and an afterword by Bruce Dickinson, this book stands as a definitive visual history for one of Britain’s most influential and biggest-selling bands.
