Award-winning guitarist and songwriter Laurence Jones is set to release his deeply personal solo album, On My Own, on 23rd January 2026. The title track, “On My Own”, is already available across all digital platforms, marking a significant new chapter in his career. This poignant record emerged from a period of intense health struggles, prompting Jones to return to the raw, stripped-back blues that first ignited his musical passion.
Jones openly shared the profound impact of his recent battle with Crohn’s disease on the creation of the album. “This album came out of one of the hardest times of my life,” he revealed. “I was exhausted, in pain, and had lost a lot of weight due to Crohn’s disease. Picking up my guitar became my only release. Playing and writing the blues was the one way I could truly express what I was going through. ‘On My Own’ became not just a song, but a lifeline.” This raw emotion became the very foundation for the entire album, a testament to his resilience. Jones further explained, “I hit rock bottom with my health and couldn’t even leave the house for months. But out of that darkness came some of the most honest music I’ve ever written. Sharing this journey has brought me closer to my fans, and I hope the songs can give comfort to anyone fighting their own battles.”
The upcoming album also heralds a special debut solo tour for Jones in January 2026. Reflecting on this new direction, Laurence stated, “I’ve waited 15 years to bring it back home to the blues music and pay homage to the music I love. I feel these are some of the best songs I’ve written; you can’t hide behind just one guitar and a vocal. I’m excited to push my musical boundaries as I first started on the classical guitar when I was just eight years old. I’ve always wanted to get back up on the stage on my own and combine my experience of the blues with the classical guitar training.”
Despite facing significant health challenges, Laurence Jones has already built an impressive career. He has topped the Official UK Jazz & Blues Chart, earned a spot among the Top 10 Blues Rock Guitarists in the World by MusicRadar, and has supported legendary artists such as Sir Ringo Starr, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, and Status Quo. With over 50,000 albums sold worldwide, his induction into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame speaks volumes about his impact on the genre. With On My Own, Jones’s focus shifts from accolades to crafting timeless, heartfelt songs that resonate with genuine lived experience.
