The Moshville Times - Crystal Lake announce new album ‘The Weight of Sound’ and release title track

Japanese metalcore force Crystal Lake have announced their highly anticipated seventh studio album, The Weight of Sound, which is set for release on the 23rd of January 2026 via Century Media Records. To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s powerful title track, accompanied by a visually striking music video that captures the raw energy of their recent live performances.

The upcoming album promises to be one of the band’s most ambitious projects to date, featuring a diverse lineup of guest artists from across the heavy music spectrum. Collaborators include Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage, David Simonich from Signs of the Swarm, Taylor Barber of Seven Hours After Violet and Left To Suffer, Myke Terry from Fire from the Gods and Volumes, and former Misery Signals vocalist Karl Schubach.

Guitarist and founder YD shared his thoughts on the record and its inspiration:

When I look back, I realise that Crystal Lake has now been active for 23 long years. People often say, “time flies,” but the truth is we’ve carved out countless histories together – with friends, bandmates, and fellow musicians – sharing struggles that drew blood and building this band piece by piece. I have constantly been inspired by the people and the environment around me… Our new album The Weight of Sound is a reflection of this way of life.

Vocalist John added his perspective on the new single, “The Weight of Sound”:

I wrote this after being gone from home for a long period and it mirrors those emotions of being on tour for a majority of the year – you are quite literally never there for the people you love when they need you. So people don’t always believe in your struggle and there is a lot of doubt from all sides. But I believe in myself and this life. I’ll carry the weight of sound forever.
