Following the strong response to their recent single “Silent Divide”, acclaimed rockers Alter Bridge have released another track from their upcoming eighth studio album. The new song, “What Lies Within”, is accompanied by an animated video directed by J.T. Ibanez and is now available across all digital platforms.
The track opens with a driving guitar riff from Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, propelled by the solid rhythm section of bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. Lyrically, the song serves as a cautionary tale about the darkness within humanity, as Kennedy sings, “What lies within, beneath the skin, something so dark and foreboding.”
The new song is taken from the band’s forthcoming self-titled album, Alter Bridge, scheduled for release on January 9th, 2026, via Napalm Records. The album was recorded over two months this spring with longtime collaborator and producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette at the legendary 5150 studio in California and Elvis’s own studio in Florida.
Alter Bridge will feature twelve new tracks, including songs like “Trust In Me”, where Kennedy and Tremonti share lead vocal duties, and the epic closer “Slave To Master”, which is the longest song the quartet has recorded to date.
The track listing for Alter Bridge is:
- “Silent Divide”
