Lightchapter unleash electro death metal album, Where All Hope Begins

Danish electro-death metal unit Lightchapter have released their second full-length album, Where All Hope Begins, which is out today. The album follows four preceding singles and was created in collaboration with the legendary producer Tue Madsen (known for his work with Meshuggah, Sick of It All, and Behemoth).

Where All Hope Begins is described as a striking showcase of the band’s unique sound, which fuses brutal death metal riffs with 80s-inspired synth soundscapes to deliver a raw, cinematic, and relentless assault. The band, which consists of four experienced musicians from Denmark’s Jutland region, formed in 2020 with the aim of carving out their own niche within modern metal by blending groovy death metal with 80s synths and drum machines—a style they have dubbed “Electro Death Metal.”

Frontman, guitarist, vocalist, and lyricist Mikkel Ottosen commented on the release, stating: “Where All Hope Begins is the result of a year and a half of intense songwriting—a fully realised sonic universe where aggression, deep emotions, and an honest, experimental evolution of our sound merge together.”

The new album tackles deeply personal yet universally relatable themes, including desperation, anger, and revenge, while still holding on to the central belief that hope remains for us all. The album artwork, created by Mikkel Ottosen, features the solemn Todes figures by world-renowned sculptor Christian Lemmerz, who granted the band rare permission to use them.

The band will celebrate the release tomorrow, September 27th, with a sold-out release show at Radar in their hometown of Aarhus. A handful of other Danish shows have also been announced for late 2025 and early 2026.
