Laurence Jones announces new acoustic solo album ‘On My Own’ and extensive UK tour

Award-winning blues rock guitarist and songwriter Laurence Jones is making a powerful and intimate return with his first-ever solo acoustic album, On My Own, set for release on January 23, 2026. The record is Jones’ most personal project to date, exploring his recent health struggles and taking him back to his musical roots.

The album marks a new chapter for Jones following what he describes as the most difficult year of his life battling Crohn’s disease. Written during a flare-up of the condition, On My Own reflects raw truths about living with the invisible illness, as well as themes of love and life on the road, representing both survival and reinvention for the artist.

“I found a way to keep going by going solo,” Jones explained. “Writing about my struggles and my blues, this is almost a rebrand, something new, just me and my acoustic guitar. It’s intimate, heartfelt and takes me back to where it all began.”

Following doctor’s orders to rethink his traditionally high-energy stage performances, Jones adapted to a setup that allows him to sit and play, sparking a new creative path that is raw and organic. As an ambassador for Crohn’s & Colitis UK, Jones hopes the album will resonate with others facing the disease.

The title track, “On My Own” which is available to stream from October 3rd, became the driving force behind the entire album. “It was the only way I could see myself touring while suffering with my Crohn’s disease,” Jones shared. “I’d lost three stone in weight and was fatigued and in pain whilst recording this track, but I didn’t want this disease to get in the way of my dreams.”

On My Own is a story-driven record, weaving together traditional blues with honest, autobiographical storytelling. It fuses his classical guitar training, which began at age eight, with his lifelong passion for the blues, paying homage to heroes such as Robert Johnson and Lightnin’ Hopkins. Jones calls this fully independent release—created entirely on his own terms via his own label, Ron Records (named in memory of his grandad)—one of his proudest moments.

The album was co-produced by acclaimed musician and award-winning producer Wayne Proctor, who Jones credits with helping him “explore my voice in a way I never have before.”

The upcoming solo tour will feature support from Jones’ fiancée, Amy Eftekhari. Amy will be performing her debut EP, which was produced by Jones and Proctor to coincide with the tour. The EP includes a special love song written and performed by Laurence and Amy together.

Jones, who was voted in the top 10 best blues rock guitarists in the world by Music-Radar and is inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame, has built an extraordinary career that includes supporting icons like Sir Ringo Starr, Van Morrison, and the late Jeff Beck. This tour, however, is focused less on chart success and more on returning to the stripped-down, honest, and raw music that first inspired him.
