After releasing her highest-charting album to date last year, Elles Bailey is back with her brand-new record Can’t Take My Story Away, set for release on January 16th via Cooking Vinyl and Outlaw Music. Alongside the announcement comes the first single, “Growing Roots,” as well as a run of UK tour dates for 2026, including a show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on March 19th.

Fiercely independent, Bailey has spent the last decade carving out her place as one of the UK’s most compelling singer-songwriters. Her voice – instantly recognisable and full of grit – tells stories of resilience, survival, hope, and new beginnings. In her songs, listeners find moments of liberation and connection, as she unravels truths about life and love with heartfelt honesty.

Produced by Luke Potashnick and recorded with a new lineup of musicians apart from her live band, the eleven tracks of Can’t Take My Story Away span a three-year creative journey, with some songs tracing their origins back almost a decade. The result is her most ambitious and personal record to date — a kaleidoscopic portrait of her life, equal parts vulnerable and empowering.

“There’s definitely an empowerment to this record,” Elles says. “I feel like that has actually evolved since I first started making it – as though I was a different person. There is a quiet strength running through this album and a deep-rooted honesty. Whilst there are some moments that reflect on the hardest chapters of my story, there’s a feeling of joy threaded through every note. It’s like a light has found its way in, even in the darkest moments.”

The first single, “Growing Roots,” offers a soulful glimpse of what’s to come. Blending groove-led instrumentation with Bailey’s raw and commanding vocals, it tells a story of love, commitment, and grounding. “It’s about finding your person—the one who makes you want to set aside your gypsy heart and finally settle down,” she explains. “It’s about choosing to put down roots and grow together, and what that person teaches you about yourself. It’s about the beauty of truly living in the moment.”

Although the record was made with new musicians, Elles’ trusted touring band will return to the stage with her for the live shows.
