Ectovoid’s Dark Abstraction gets tenth-anniversary vinyl reissue

Ten years after its initial release, and in celebration of the band’s fifteenth anniversary, Boris Records has today released an exclusive vinyl reissue of Ectovoid’s sophomore album, Dark Abstraction. The long out-of-print record is available in two limited versions – plain black and marbled purple vinyl.

Originally released in 2015, Dark Abstraction was a massive step forward for the Birmingham, Alabama outfit and tragically the last album to feature the band’s late founding guitarist, Michael Stewart. The record represented an energetic and creative spin on the cavernous blackened death metal sound, with outlets at the time praising the release. Decibel magazine noted the tracks were “executed with unrelenting precision that doesn’t sacrifice bestial instinct,” while Metal Temple hailed it as being “filled to the brim with raw power and dark energy.”

Boris Records is now bringing this under-appreciated work of death metal darkness back to the public consciousness. The album was recorded in 2014 by Joshua Freemon, mastered by Damian Herring, and features cover art by Bartlomiej Kurzok. The lineup on the recording consisted of C.B. on bass and vocals, M.S. on guitar, and C.M. on drums.

Dark Abstraction is available to stream and purchase via the Boris Records Bandcamp page.
