American doom/stoner metal outfit Psythøn have officially unleashed their debut EP, Baptized in Bong Water. Hailing from Chicago, the trio look to make their mark with a sound firmly rooted in Electric Wizard worship and pure psychedelic chaos.
The band, comprised of guitarist Andy Georgiev, bassist David Johnson, and drummer Jacob Sennese, delivers a crushing blend of doom, sludge, and stoner metal. Known for their rebellious spirit and devastating volume, Psythøn aim to stand apart from a scene they feel is often constrained by formulas. They seek to channel raw energy into unrelenting, fuzz-drenched riffs, keeping the defiant and wild essence of rock and roll alive with every performance.
The new EP promises to be a monolithic slab of heaviness, capturing the band’s ethos and sonic power. The release was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Ironhand Audio in their native Chicago by the aptly named Dan “The Wizard” Klein, ensuring the production is as weighty as the riffs themselves.
Listeners can expect a sound that is both a homage to the titans of the genre and a fresh injection of chaotic energy. Baptized in Bong Water is available now on all major streaming platforms and via Bandcamp.
