Blindfolded and Led to the Woods unleash new single “Cafuné”

New Zealand progressive death metal quintet Blindfolded and Led to the Woods have released their latest single, “Cafuné”, taken from their upcoming concept album The Hardest Thing About Being God Is That No One Believes Me, due out October 10th via Prosthetic Records.

Vocalist Stace Fifield explains that the album traces the psychological collapse of a character consumed by unrequited love. What begins as affection mutates into obsession, delusion, and violence, ultimately revealed as a gendered descent into madness that culminates in a fatal, twisted union.

On the new track, Fifield adds: “‘Cafuné’ is a poetic ode to new love, expressed through confrontational progressive death metal. That clash between intimacy and extremity is deliberate — it sets the tone for an album that begins tenderly before spiralling into fixation, violence, and ruin. It’s the lit fuse before the bomb, the first glimpse of a story that holds more danger and complexity than it seems.”

Formed in 2010, Blindfolded and Led to the Woods have built a reputation for uncompromising heaviness and intricate songcraft, most recently with 2023’s Rejecting Obliteration. That record earned widespread acclaim, with Distorted Sound awarding it 9/10 and Invisible Oranges naming it among “The Best Heavy Metal of 2023 So Far.” Metalsucks also highlighted the band as one of “Five New Zealand Metal Bands You Should Know.” To date, the group has surpassed one million streams worldwide.

With The Hardest Thing About Being God Is That No One Believes Me, Blindfolded and Led to the Woods aim to push their sound further still, combining airtight technicality, unsettling atmospherics, and a narrative-driven approach that blurs the line between the poetic and the unhinged.

The album will be released digitally and on CD October 10th via Prosthetic Records.
