Colorado-based death metal outlaws, Aleister Cowboy, have returned with a barn-burner of a new EP, Neolithic Blood Rites, via Iron Fortress Records. The new release is currently available to stream, with a physical release on CD and cassette planned for Friday, October 15th.
Neolithic Blood Rites is described as a groove-laden, stomping onslaught that welds the chaos of classic death metal with a sinister, dust-choked aesthetic. The EP promises vocals that howl like a preacher possessed, riffs that grind like rusted spurs, and thunderous drums echoing like an undead stampede across the frozen plains. It’s a raw and ritualistic sound, capturing the band at their heaviest without sacrificing their signature catchiness.
The band explains the concept behind the EP’s title:
The idea of Neolithic as a band came to us as a natural evolution and progression from the widely known ‘caveman’ death metal. Much like the step from the Paleolithic into the Neolithic, we are approaching something fundamentally similar, just with sharper tools and more understanding of each other.
The sonic decompositions on the record were captured and mixed by Trae Roberts at Like Minded Company, with mastering handled by Pete Grossman at Bricktop Recording. Adding to the feral and primal atmosphere, the hellish artwork was created by Richie Jones (Richthenegative), with logos provided by GruesomeGraphx.
The tracklist for Neolithic Blood Rites is as follows:
- “Leachate of Abandoned Gods”
- “Liquefied Bodies Scraped From a Tub”
- “Tireless Autosarcophagy”
- “Pools of Ancient Dead”
