Absolute Losers unveil new single “Eagerness” ahead of UK show and Reeperbahn appearance

Canadian trio Absolute Losers are back with their latest single, “Eagerness,” which lands on 9th September 2025 across all major streaming platforms.

The release comes just days before their UK headline show at The Strongroom Bar, London on 16th September, and ahead of their upcoming set at Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival. The band will also embark on a run of Canadian shows this August in support of their new record, with further live dates still to be announced.

Recorded live in the studio, “Eagerness” strips things down to the essentials — raw energy, swagger, and the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. The track leans into the self-described “butt-ish caveman rock” that Absolute Losers have embraced, with nods to AC/DC and Tom Petty, elevated by rich three-part harmonies. Already a highlight of their live sets, the single offers a glimpse into their playful yet nostalgic creative spirit.

Speaking about the track, guitarist and lead vocalist Josh Langille explains:

“Lyrically, the song is about reminiscing on simple times as a kid. There’s lots of nostalgia. Talking about getting ‘that summer feeling’ from a fellow playmate who picked flowers and gave them to you. Not quite sure what to do, you turn around and run to your boys. There’s imagery of flowers and sun beaming through trees. I even threw in a reference to Cotton Park in Stratford, PEI, where we all ran around as kids, and name-dropped one of the gardeners from the town of Stratford. The chorus touches on getting into innocent mischief away from adult eyes.”

Langille adds:

“Every time I pick up my guitar, I play the big open cowboy chords loudly because it feels so good, so I really wanted to write a song that used them. It’s one of those songs that just fell from the sky. It feels like those are usually the best anyway. The basic chords and melody of ‘Eagerness’ felt so solid, it just made sense to let the song speak for itself.”

“Eagerness” is the latest single to be lifted from Absolute Losers’ forthcoming album In the Crowd, due 26th September 2025 on Having Fun Records, a new imprint launched by Toronto label We Are Busy Bodies.

The record was produced and mixed by Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) at Palace Sound in Toronto, with mastering handled by Mikey Young (The Chats, King Gizzard, Amyl and the Sniffers). Unlike their lockdown-crafted debut At the Mall (which earned them a 2023 Music PEI Award), this time the band dedicated long days in the studio to fully realise their expanded sound, with Walsh engineering and mixing throughout.

Earlier singles “In the Crowd” and “At the Same Time” have already earned them attention from Radio X’s John Kennedy, Billboard Canada, Exclaim!, Maximum Volume, and regular rotation on CBC Music radio.

Absolute Losers’ new album In the Crowd is released 26th September 2025 via Having Fun Records.
