Torchlight Parade release album ‘Children of the Night’

St. Louis mortuary metal band Torchlight Parade—fronted by licensed embalmer and vocalist Matt Engel and his brother Doug Engel, a hearse-driving lead guitarist—has unleashed their new album Children of the Night via Pavement Entertainment. Inspired by their lifelong love of classic monster movies, the band blends hard rock with a darker, theatrical edge that embraces the macabre and turns it into a full-blown musical spectacle.

Torchlight Parade is more than just a band—they’re a horror-fuelled experience. Their live shows transform the stage into an immersive world where actors roam in character, including a werewolf, Michael Myers, and Frankenstein himself. Add in pounding kettle drums, balloon drops, and confetti cannons, and every performance becomes an unforgettable nightmare carnival.

The band has earned features in numerous outlets and magazines for their charity concerts, including Toys for Tots and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and have been named Best Local Band three years running.

Rounding out the lineup are Matt and Doug’s nephew Samuel Engel (bass) and his best friend Gavin Martin (drums). Together, they’ve opened for several prominent rock acts while carving out their own unique space in the metal world. Torchlight Parade’s music is a bone-rattling blend of hard-hitting riffs, theatrical spectacle, and chilling explorations of life, death, and everything beyond the grave.
