The organisers of Uprising 9 have announced a second wave of bands for their huge 10-year anniversary event, which returns to Leicester’s O2 Academy. The announcement also reveals a significant collaboration with the pioneering online station, TotalRock.
Leading the new additions are the returning alternative metallers Breed 77, who wowed audiences with their comeback show at Uprising 7. Armed with an arsenal of hits including “La Ultima Hora”, “The River”, and their classic cover of The Cranberries’ “Zombie”, the band is set to deliver another highly emotive performance.
Making their festival debuts are several exciting acts. Progressive metal outfit Mayfire will bring their lush soundscapes to the UK scene, while Egyptian death metal empresses Maatkare promise to share monumental fables from their debut album Rise To Power. Hailing from London, party-doom merchants Gurt will be bringing their signature “bloody awful noise”, and local hardcore crew Break Them are set to return and showcase their high-energy chaos.
In a special partnership, the festival has teamed up with TotalRock to mark the station’s 25th anniversary. The collaboration will see TotalRock host “The Night Before” pre-party at Leicester’s Firebug, sponsor the O2 Academy 1 stage, and feature several of their team as guest comperes. Tony Wilson, TotalRock’s Programme Director, commented, “We are stoked to be collaborating with Uprising on their 10th anniversary show and combining it with our 25th anniversary party. We look forward to seeing all you true music lovers and metalheads for the party weekend of the year.”
The full line-up so far includes Pitchshifter, Stampin Ground, Lawnmower Deth, Breed 77, Manors, Mayfire, Pryma, Fractions, Gurt, Hawxx, Maatkare, and Break Them, with more still to be announced.
Tickets are on sale now for £35 plus fees. Tickets for 12-16-year-olds are priced at £20, and children under 12 can attend for free.
