Dead of Winter Fest: The Trilogy has been and gone, but the stench and the memories from this one are going to stick around for a long while. Thankfully, there weren’t any tricky weather conditions to deal with this time, which allowed Kendo and Kwando from BrainBath to run a flawless festival. They managed to drink Ivory Blacks dry and make plenty of new friends along the way, making this the festival of 2026 already for me.
It was a proper feast of underground death metal, and it was a pleasure to get the chance to interview the bands as well as seeing so many old and new faces in the crowd. For this chat, we caught up with French death grinders Putrid Offal, who sped things up quite considerably on the night. They brought their own brand of Lovecraftian death metal to the masses to kick off what turned out to be a brilliant day. I was honoured to speak to founder and vocalist of the band, Franck, and drummer, Laye, about all things Putrid Offal and what they have happening next.
