Dead of Winter Fest: The Trilogy has been and gone, but the stench and memories from this event will live long in the memory. With no tricky weather conditions to contend with this year, Kendo and Kwando of BrainBath were able to run a flawless festival. Drinking Ivory Blacks dry and making new friends made this the festival of 2026 already for me. It was a feast of underground death metal, and it was a total pleasure to interview the bands as well as seeing so many old and new faces in the crowd.
For our next interview, we have Friday’s HM2/Autopsy worshipping Scottish hooligans Abysmal Decay, who brought their take on death metal to the masses to start what was a brilliant day. After seeing their whole set, I rushed to get a chat with the full band. They headed downstairs for a bit of a blether about the festival, how they ended up on the bill, and those bloody song titles.
Oh, and Kendo makes an appearance too, asking the all-important question: “Where’s the bass?”
