Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Lowdown. This bunch play on the New Blood Stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Hertfordshire.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
3 years. We did our first gig in July 2022.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Lowdown does exactly what it says on the tin. It just happened. The riffs are low down and angry, yet uplifting. A possible juxtaposition? Maybe.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
High octane, heavy riffing metal, that draws inspiration from everything from Sabbath to Alter Bridge. It’s that combination of old school and modern metal which tends to appeal to connoisseurs of heavy music.
Our motto is simple: All Hail The Riff! #AHTR
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
A fusion of doom-laced chords with searing down-tuned riffs and pinch harmonics ricocheting through the air like battle cries! It’s the balance of HEAVY riffs with melody, a modern sound with an old school, raw approach. We’ve been told that we emit extreme POWER during our set which tends to smack people right in the chops. Some would say that heads do indeed bang.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Dave is a veteran (and played previously on the Sophie stage), but Ant, Rich and Kev are Bloodstock virgins.

What sort of setlist can we expect?
We’ll play high energy, heavy songs that are full of riffs that we hope the crowd can rise up and bang their heads to!

What are you working on at the moment?
We’re always writing new material, though at the moment the focus is on our album launch and nailing our Bloodstock set!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
At a Viking themed festival, someone once pulled an actual sword out in the mosh pit! Not a floppy, foam, fake sword….a real one. No idea how they got that in there.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Beer!! Always remember, it’s only 5% less water than water ;)
