Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Insidious Void. This bunch play on the EMP Stage on the Friday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are a 3 piece Blackened Death Metal band from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We’ve been on the go for 3 years, forming in 2022.
Where does the name of the band come from?
We are quite keen on using the word “void” to describe massive emptiness. It comes up in lyrics every so often as a metaphor. “Insidious” ties into that a bit as it symbolizes a creeping sense of emptiness. That all sounds great but ultimately, we just thought it sounded cool!
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Our music blends elements of death metal and black metal into one vicious sounding package. We really want to see how far we can push the heaviness of death metal while maintaining the bleak overtones of black metal. Naturally that means there are a lot of influential bands in the melting pot, but if you think Bloodbath or Deicide crossed with Belphegor you would be in the right ballpark.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our shows are uncompromisingly heavy. Every detail of our sound is looked at when we are practicing or after a gig to see how we can get more out of it and make it heavier. We want it to feel like you have been punched in the gut, repeatedly, but we also want people to headbanging and mosh like your lives depends on it. Don’t think too much about it and just get swept up in all the nastiness. That what a void show is, a vicious, heavy…good time.

Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
Each of us has been to Bloodstock more than a few times, this year is Shane’s 8th year! There simply isn’t a festival like it. Having been to festivals all over Europe, Bloodstock is a mainstay, it’s always the most fun part of a year…and that’s before you even consider the line-ups.
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
A welcome email in the middle of the everyday tedium of work back in February. As you can imagine, we were all just a bit over the moon!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We want you to know exactly what we are about right from the word go. The setlist we have put together for Bloodstock is by far the most intense one to date. Without wishing to give too much away, all we will say is that this is a proper showcase of Insidious Void!
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We have an exhaustive list of bands that we each want to see but the one we want to clash with least is 3 Inches Of Blood. They are probably our most anticipated band this year.
What are you working on at the moment?
At the time of writing this we are in between studio session for this week, which you will find
out more about very soon. After that we have been working hard on our debut album and have been eyeing up more shows in the UK. Keep your eyes open!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We once changed our entire show into a Mortal Kombat themed show. Each of us dressed
as different characters, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile if I remember rightly. We then had a whole bunch of samples going through the whole show that tied it all in. It was a blast!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
It’s hard to beat a shot of whiskey to really light the fire before we kick things off. Sinking a beer just makes you bloated! Mid-set however is a different story…
