Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Bad Earth. This bunch play on the New Blood Stage on the Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Ben and Karl are Wrexham born and bred and Ste is from Newcastle but is now and honorary Welshman living in Denbigh.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
This current formation of Bad Earth have been together for five years
Where does the name of the band come from?
It came from a practice session in the early days long before Ben and Karl joined, where we had a problematic buzzing noise over the pa speakers and put it down to a “Bad Earth”.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
As we have so many of individual influences that we all bring to the table its been hard to pin down one we type of sound we sound like, so decided to make our own genre up and call ourselves “Rockcore”.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
It starts with a smash in the face steam train that doesn’t give up for the whole set. Expect riffs galore and sweat.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
We have been going to Bloodstock every year since 2019 because we love the place and atmosphere as there is no other festival like it.

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We won the North Wales region.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Amazing, excitement and in total shock!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Half hour of pure energy, riffs, thunderous drums, groovy bass lines and 3 styles of vocals!
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Waterlines, Orange Goblin, The Black Dahlia Murder, Breed 77, Rough Justice and nail bomb. Oh and Machine Head! Like we’re going to headline the other stage!
What are you working on at the moment?
We are rehearsing our set like mad to make it tighter than ever and finishing off some new songs for our new EP that we are hoping to record not long after Bloodstock.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Shouted out Wylde Stallyns! Or back in 2021 we got random people to pole dance in the JD tent at Bloodstock, huge dudes too!
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Pints of water to make sure we stay hydrated as none of us are spring chickens any more and a good shot of JD honey for the fire.
