Continuing our run of letting you know a little more about as many of the bands on at Bloodstock 2025 as we possibly can before you get a chance to see them, we have Speak in Whispers. This bunch play on the new Blood Stage on the Sunday.
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are all from Cyprus. Half of the band lives in Larnaca and the the other half in Nicosia.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We formed the band in December 2017 as a house band for a local venue but only started writing music around 2020
Where does the name of the band come from?
This is a great story. So, the four of us where part of a popular cover band in Cyprus. The band split up in December 2017 but we had tons of shows booked throughout 2018 that we did not want to miss. So the four of us gathered and welcomed Deniel into the band. We had less than a month to come up with a name, a logo, a poster and a 2-and-a-half-hour playlist. So we threw a bunch of suggestions on a piece of paper, everyone got to veto one and then voted on the remaining ones. Hence the name. No meaning behind it. Just pressure.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We all have different influences. We believe that our music is an amalgamation of what we all bring to the table and with what we all love collectively. The most prominent elements are groove and progressive metal with modern production style as found in metalcore.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
We have been playing together non-stop for over 8 years. We have performed hundreds of shows together. This helped us become very tight as a live band, we trust each other on stage. And most importantly we believe our frontman has a menacing presence on stage and is very explosive and entertaining to look at.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
This is our first time at Bloodstock and we cannot wait!

Which M2tM region did you win, or did you come through other channels?
We won through the Cyprus M2tM competition.
Can you put into 10 words or fewer how it felt when you realised you were heading to Bloodstock?
Surreal, humbled, excited, slightly frightened, ecstatic.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
We will be playing most of our debut album Crystalline Structures. We aim to start hard, cool down in the middle and end harder. We hope to show our diverse sound and take the audience through an emotional ride.
Stage times haven’t been announced yet, so which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We hope we won’t clash with either Mastodon or Rivers Of Nihil. Primarily because we are huge fans.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have started pre-production of our second album. We aim to start recording soon and hopefully have a single our before the end of the year, with the rest of the album coming out in 2026.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Haven’t really done many wild things. We are composed and focused in delivering our best performance every time. We have seen some intense mosh-pits at our shows but we hope to see a bigger one at Bloodstock.
What drink do you throw back to get yourself fired up before going on stage?
Each member has a different vice. From beer to whisky. Anything goes, just a little bit to take the edge off!
