Finnish hard rock outfit Lobster have officially released a high-octane reinterpretation of Don Henley’s iconic 1980s classic, “The Boys of Summer”. The release follows fast on the heels of their April comeback single, “Baby I’m Yours Tonight”, which marked the band’s return to active duty after a three-year hiatus away from the studio circuit.
The new single takes the genuine, human, and highly approachable energy that reignited the quartet this spring and pushes it into a considerably heavier sonic territory. While paying close respect to the track’s unmistakable classic melody, the band has dragged the arrangement firmly into the modern era using powerful clean vocals, driving guitar riffs, catchy vocal harmonies, and a rock-solid rhythmic foundation. The single lands alongside an action-packed, story-driven official music video streaming now on YouTube.
Discussing the feel-good spirit behind the cover, drummer Zeko Takamäki explains: “The new single was made with a spirit that is, above all, a lot of fun to play, and one that is guaranteed to put listeners in a good mood.” To match the high-energy performance, the band enlisted top-tier industry professionals to polish the mix, bringing in Mikko Karmila at Finnvox alongside mastering legend Björn Engelmann at Cutting Room, who is celebrated globally for his technical work with heavyweights ABBA, Roxette, and Rammstein.
Since founding the project in 2015, the Finnish four-piece has carved out an impressive independent catalog, including three full-length studio records: Carousel (2016), Killing Silence (2018), and Love, Respect & Rock’n’Roll (2023). This latest release ensures their next chapter is starting with maximum momentum. “The Boys of Summer” is out now across all major digital streaming platforms.
