Indie rock and dark wave outfit Reversed Chakra have released their highly anticipated new EP, Rarefied. The record is out now worldwide through Dungeon Media and is available on all major streaming platforms.
A centrepiece of the new EP is the band’s reimagining of Duran Duran’s 1984 classic, “The Wild Boys”. Reversed Chakra have transformed the track into a brooding, atmospheric indie rock anthem.
To achieve this sound, the band enlisted legendary producer and mixer John Fryer, known for his seminal work with Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and HIM. The EP was mastered by Alan Douches, whose credits range from Converge and Chelsea Wolfe to Fatboy Slim.
Speaking about the release, Reversed Chakra stated: “Rarefied is a statement about contrasts: beauty and decay, danger and desire. Covering ‘The Wild Boys’ allowed us to pay homage to the spirit of the 80s while pushing it through our darker lens.”
The band has already made a significant mark with previous singles, including “Game of Chess”, which has garnered 2.2 million views and extensive international radio play, as well as “All The Way Down” and “Dust”.
Rarefied sees the band expand their sonic palette further, blending post-rock atmospheres with the urgency of modern indie rock. Their sound is often described as a fusion of Interpol and Editors, seasoned with hints of The Cure and Sigur Rós.
Reversed Chakra consists of Alice Bianconcini (Guitar), Leo Martera (Drums), Justin Brett (Vocals), and Carlo Bellotti (Bass).
